Phil has a Master's Degree in Performance from the University of New Mexico, and is licensed as a K-12 instructor in New York and in New Mexico.
Phil enjoys teaching adults and children of all levels. A 20-year veteran of NYC's professional scene, Phil has studied with legendary bass trombonists George Roberts, Charlie Vernon, and learned first-hand from jazz greats including Carl Fontana, Frank Rosolino, and Bill Watrous.
While in NYC, Phil performed as a soloist with Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Shaw, Tito Puente, the Gil Evans Orchestra, the Charles Mingus Orchestra, and many other wonderful musicians and groups. He was also a regular soloist at the Rainbow Room at NBC studios, and performed on Broadway and at Radio City Music hall with the Rockettes.
Phil Arnold is also is a regular instructor at Hummingbird Music Camp, and travels to schools and universities as a YAMAHA Clinician.
