It occupies the original site of Los Poblanos\, one of the earliest Spanish Colonial settlements in the Rio Grande Valley. It is\, in fact\, a living link in an agricultural heritage that extends over 1700 years\, making it among the oldest parcels of continually farmed land in the United States. Years of hard work have transformed the neglected land into community gardens\, wildlife habitat\, and certified organic croplands. These provide educational experiences\, community service projects\, recreation and entertainment to a broad segment of our population while honoring our history and protecting the environment. This farm offers excellent year-round bird watching opportunities. Kestrels\, hawks and songbirds frequent the farm\, and hundreds of Sandhill Cranes and Canada Geese visit in the fall and winter. \nCommunity Partners: \n\nCity of Albuquerque Open Space Division\nCABQ Parks & Recreation Department – Outdoor Rock Climbing Wall\nRio Grande Community Farm\nConservation Carnivale\nPopFizz Paletas\nRock Your Body Face and Body Art\n\nPerformance Schedule:\n6 PM: Doors Open\n6:30-6:45 PM: Conservation Carnivale\n7:15-8:15 PM: Chill House Featuring Hillary Smith \nThe members of the Chill House Band bring years of experience performing professionally in New Mexico and Texas. A native of Hobbs\, New Mexico\, Hill first made her mark in the 80s with gutsy performances of rockin’ blues and funk\, and she’s fronted a number of popular bands in the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area over the years. Chief among the early groups was the multi-award-winning Strictly Taboo\, whose debut album\, Playing with Fire\, got heavy rotation on local and international radio.
